I was thrilled when Polaroid approached us to design the interface for their latest camera, the Polaroid POP. With a focus on appealing to a younger audience and creating a kid-friendly experience, we audited the previous camera, identified areas for improvement, and prototyped various onscreen navigation systems. Our streamlined design featured large, intuitive buttons, clear iconography, and a grid-based menu system, making photo-taking, emoji placement, and printing effortless. We also incorporated innovative features like direct writing and sketching on Polaroids, as well as a collection of themed stickers. Working closely with Foxconn's software/hardware engineers, we ensured seamless integration of the interface with the camera's hardware. The Polaroid POP was launched at CES in 2017, marking the brand's 80th anniversary, and received a warm reception as a standout addition to their revamped product line.
